Dunkirk Q90 Series Condensing Boiler Review

More and more people are trying to save as much money they can on heating costs this winter. The prices going up and down, we want to make sure that the heating systems that we have in our homes are Energy Efficient and that they will save us money.

The Dunkirk Q90 Series Condensing Boiler can do just that. The Energy Star Boiler has a rating of 90% AFUE.

This rating alone will bring down the amount of fuel that you will use to heat the home. Another reason for the Q90 Series high efficiency is the Cast Aluminum Heat Exchanger.

This part alone offers more thermal activity that transfers heat 3x faster than other boilers.

The Q90 Condensing Boiler has 3 different Models. The Q90-50 has a BTUH Input of 50,000 and a Heating Capacity of 45,000. The Q90-75 has a BTUH of 75,000 and a Heating Capacity of 68,000 BTUH and the Q90-100 has a BTUH Input of 100,000 and a Heating Capacity of 90,000.

The Q90 Series is perfect for use with Radiant Floor Heating, Snow Melting, Baseboard Heating and Cast Iron Radiators. These boilers all come rewired and factory assembled so installation is easy. The Q90 is compact in size, making it easy to install in a basement that doesn’t have much room.

The Heating Capacity of the Q90 Series is 50, 75 and 100 MBH. The unit is a sealed combustion system and a Direct Venting System. The Q90 Series has an incorporated boiler control in the control panel. The control has a high limit for proper operation at a safe level. The ignition part of the boiler is fed with a hot surface igniter and a single Stage Gas Valve. All parts of the boiler are easy access for servicing and cleaning.

The air intake of the boiler is an impressive 5″ and you can use PVC or CPVC to install. The Air Flow system has a proving switch for safety. You can filter Natural Gas or Propane with this model Boiler.

The Cabinet of the Q90 Series is made from heavy gauge steel that is protected with a baked on coating. The front door of the cabinet is easy to remove making it easy to service. The boiler is equipped with a right side exhaust for gas or fresh air in and fuel in. There is top access for both the Water and Supply Returns.

Installed is a Gas Control Valve that is electronically controlled with a 24 Volt Combination Gas Valve. The Valve can be seen piped onto the gas and air mixer. The Relief Valve is on the top on the boiler and can allow pressure relief for the heating system just in case of an inappropriate operation from the boiler. The valve is set to open at 30 PSIG.

Other connections you may need is 120 Volts AC, 60 Hertz, Single Phase and less than 12 Amps. The Venting and Air Intake Pipe is the first 5 feet is Schedule 40 with 2″ CPVC and it is followed by a 3″ PVC Schedule 30, The Air Intake is Schedule 40 with 3″ PVC with a vent length of a minimum of 6 feet and a maximum of 40 feet.
