You may be stuck with a green swimming pool and want to know how to clear a green pool or maybe tell a friend or neighbor how to clear his green swimming pool.

Either way this lesson will show you how to make a green swimming pool blue again and fast!

Have a look at the pictures below and then see the lesson underneath when you are done looking.

Step One:

The first step will be to make sure you PH and your ALK levels are in the correct spot so the swimming pool shock will work.

Once you have adjusted those you will want to shock your pool heavy with powdered or liquid swimming pool shock.

Step Two:

If you have a bunch of leaves, sticks, and other debris in your pool you will want to scoop them out with the leaf net we listed above. After you leaf scoop all of the larger debris out of your pool you will now want to vacuum the pool leaving the filter system set on waste.

Please make sure that your filter system IS set on waste because if you return the water to the pool it will just make things worse.

Step Three:

Now that the pool is leaf scooped, vacuumed, chemicals and balanced, pool is shocked you will want to backwash the swimming pool filter and empty the skimmer baskets. If you have a D.E. filter make sure you add the D.E. to the skimmer after you backwash the filter.

Step Four:

You will want to repeat this step every 6 hours until the pool water is clear.

The most important thing in getting a green or cloudy swimming pool clear again is to make sure that the filter is always working the best that it can, and the way to make sure this happens is to backwash the filter every 6 hours until the pool water is clear. Now you may think you don’t need to do it this often but you really do, even if you still have remarkably well water pressure coming from the returns you will still want to back wash the filter that many times.

The last important thing is to add some pool shock every time you backwash the filter. This will help to keep destroying the algae.
